The Republic of Singapore ranks first in urban infrastructure in the world. Singapore, formerly known as Singapore, Singapore or Singapore Island, also known as Lion City, is an island country in Southeast Asia with a parliamentary republican political system and the capital city of Singapore. Singapore is located at the southern end of the Malay Peninsula, at the entrance and exit of the Strait of Malacca. It consists of Singapore Island and 63 nearby small islands, of which Singapore Island accounts for 88.5% of the national area. Singapore Island is approximately 50 kilometers east west and 26 kilometers north south, with a land area of 733.2 square kilometers (2022). As of 2022, the total population of Singapore is approximately 5.64 million, with 4.07 million citizens and permanent residents, with Chinese accounting for approximately 74%. The main ethnic groups are the Chinese, Malay, and Indian. Singapore divides the country into five communities (administrative districts) in accordance with urban planning, named Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, Southwest, and Central Social Councils. In 2020, these five communities were divided into 31 constituencies, including 14 single constituencies and 17 collective constituencies.

Singapore was formerly known as Temasek. In the 8th century, it belonged to the Shriver dynasty. The 18th to 19th centuries were a part of the Johor Kingdom of Malaysia. In 1819, British man Stanford Raffles arrived in Singapore and signed a contract with the Sultan of Johor to establish a trading post. In 1824, it became a British colony. It was occupied by Japan in 1942. After Japan surrendered in 1945, Britain resumed colonial rule and was designated as a direct colony the following year. In 1959, it achieved autonomy and became an autonomous state. In September 1963, the Federation of Malaysia was formed together with Malaya, Sabah, and Sarawak. On August 9, 1965, it separated from Malaysia and established the Republic of Singapore; In September of the same year, it became a member of the United Nations and joined the Commonwealth in October of the same year.

Singapore is one of the four Asian dragons. In 2022, the gross domestic product reached S $643.5 billion (approximately $467.18 billion), with a per capita gross domestic product of S $114000 (approximately $83000).
